About Dr. Doug Whitlock
Dr. Whitlock’s academic career at Eastern Kentucky University spanned 41 years, including posts as director of publications, director of public information, executive assistant to the president, vice president for administration and vice president for administration and finance. He also taught communications and computer science courses. During his six years as president at Eastern Kentucky, he worked to expand the university’s international partnerships in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe.
An active leader with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Dr. Whitlock has served on AASCU’s Teacher Education Committee and the Council of State Representatives. He also has done extensive regional accreditation and NCAA athletics certification work. From 2003-2007, Dr. Whitlock was a consultant with the Kentucky Schools Boards Association, working to improve low achieving districts and conducting board development and board-superintendent relationships. A veteran, Dr. Whitlock served as a high altitude air defense missile officer in the U.S. Army. He is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame.
